SKETS Studio recently participated in an important event organized by Trimble in Mumbai. This SketchUp-focused event provided SKETS Studio with a platform to showcase its expertise while engaging with industry professionals, designers, and students. Held on November 27th, 3D Basecamp 2024 brought together industry veterans, experts, students, and designers from across the nation.
The center stage: In the spotlight, SKETS Studio and SKETCHUP
SKETS Studio has participated in and shared the stage with industry leaders on multiple occasions at large-scale events across the globe, such as the Big 5 Global event in Dubai. SKETS Studio received an invitation from the organizers to take the center stage alongside other industry titans and showcase its SKETCHUP capabilities. SKETS, as an established industry leader elaborated, allowed the audience to know about its intricate work processes and showcased the power of SKETCHUP and its transformative applications in the AEC sector.
Representing SKETS at the event as keynote speakers were Ms. Poonam Chaudhary, Director of the 3D Visualization Studio, and Ms. Arpita Sarkar, Director of the Retail CAD Studio. Both are highly experienced professionals, with combined experience of more than 50 years in the architecture and design industry. Still for both, the event was a valuable journey.
Gelling-Up: Introducing SKETS and reaching out to a wider audience
The crowd was diverse, which included students from top architectural schools, contractors and seasoned architects. Poonam and Arpita introduced SKETS Studio to the audience. Attendees learned about the workforce at SKETS which includes over 800 architects, designers, engineers, and 3D visualizers working together. This was an exciting moment for the crowd and the organizers, as they got to know about the studio’s capabilities and its vast team.

The event proceeded with both studio directors discussing the role of SKETCHUP in their work. They shared how SKETS Studio uses SKETCHUP for various tasks, from design to documentation, and how the integration of new technologies will shape the future of their work.
One of the most exciting revelations for everyone attending the event was how SKETCHUP can be used for documentation, something that even some professionals associated with Trimble were unaware of. This left many in the audience excited about the potential uses of SKETCHUP beyond just designing.
Directors Diving-Deep: An enriching experience for our industry veterans
Both Poonam and Arpita, despite their vast experiences, were amazed by how much more they unraveled at the event. Our studio directors shared that this event was an enriching experience for them. They discovered some other new ways of using SKETCHUP, including its integration with Revit. Additionally, through this event, it was also evident that SKETCHUP is being used not only for designing but in other fields as well such as the AEC industry which was an eye-opener.
AI is a buzzword nowadays and its integration with SKETCHUP was also discussed briefly. Though the integration of AI with SKETCHUP is still developing, the hot topic at the event was the growing demand for Virtual Reality in the AEC industry.
Catch-Up followed by a Match-Up: Meeting future designers and witnessing their skills
Many students and professionals contacted our studio directors, eager to learn from their expertise. They asked about the journey and growth of SKETS Studio, from its beginnings with just four people to its current team of over 800 professionals. A particularly exciting moment for both directors was their inclusion in the jury panel of a design competition. The competition featured design students from across India, all showcasing their skills using SKETCHUP. This was a great opportunity to connect with the next generation of architects and designers.

SKETS is a reputable name in the AEC Industry and is consistently pursued and invited by many organizers to share its expertise, work processes and knowledge.
