Celebrating International Yoga Day 2023 with SKETS Studio

Yoga, according to SKETS Studio, is more than simply a physical workout; it is a complete way of life that can improve one’s mental and physical health, as well as develop a sense of peace and connection with oneself and others.

On June 21, 2023, SKETS Studio organized the International Yoga Day Event 2023, an occasion that aimed to increase awareness about the advantages of Yoga for the well-being of people. The event was held in collaboration with the Dhyan Foundation, a non-profit organization for holistic wellness.

SKETS Studio hosted the event at the 297 Campus as part of its commitment to promoting health, mindfulness, and harmony among its employees and associates. Everyone at SKETS was invited to participate in the event, which comprised four major activities: Yoga Session, Mindfulness Meditation, Breathing Techniques, and Group Activity.

SKETS Studio International Yoga Day Event 2023 - Highlights

The event unfolded in a number of sessions throughout the day. Here are the different activities organized as part of the event.

Yoga Session

The Yoga session incorporated asanas to enhance strength, flexibility, and balance. The session was for everyone, no matter how much they knew about yoga – novice or expert. Volunteers from Dhyan Foundation demonstrated the asanas through step-by-step directions, ensuring that everyone performed them correctly and safely. The participants felt refreshed and rejuvenated after the session, which lasted for about an hour.

Mindfulness Meditation

The participants were made to relax with meditation, which made them more mindful and clear-headed. Meditation is a practice of focusing one’s attention on the present moment, without judging or reacting to it. It helps to reduce stress, anxiety, and negative emotions, and to increase happiness, compassion, and self-awareness. The volunteers helped the participants with the meditation and taught everyone how to meditate as a routine practice.

 “It was an opportunity to quiet our minds, find inner peace, and feel tranquillity”, said a participant.  

Breathing Techniques

The volunteers also explained the breathing techniques, including the advantages and risks. Breathing is an essential part of life, but most of us do not pay much attention to it. Breathing techniques are ways of controlling the breath, which can have various effects on the body and the mind. Pranayama is one of the most important aspects of Yoga, which involves breathing to regulate the flow of energy in the body. Pranayama can help to calm or energize the body and mind, depending on the technique used. Participants were made to try different pranayama techniques that involve breathing in different patterns and rhythms. They felt the difference in their mood and energy levels after practicing pranayama.

Group Activity

Participants joined as a community to mark this special day with a group activity involving forming a human chain and saying “Om”, the sound that signifies the origin of all creation. Om is a sacred sound that is believed to have healing and harmonizing effects on the body and the mind. The group activity aimed to create good energy and a sense of unity among everyone present. The participants felt a connection with each other and with themselves after chanting together.

The Yoga Day Event witnessed active participation with numerous people turning up in comfortable attire and Yoga mats for the relaxing and energizing sessions. When asked what they felt about the session, a significant number of participants claimed that they would start incorporating yoga into their daily routine.

SKETS Studio hopes that this event will inspire more people to embrace Yoga as a way of life and to experience its benefits on a daily basis.
